The sea. Nothing is more breathtaking. More intimidating. More romantic. And no one has ever captured th sea’s drama quite the way that Charles Vickery could.

While Vickery believed that frequent first hand observation was critical to his work, few of his paintings were actually meant to represent specific locations. Mostly, he created scenes based on his travels, sketches and observations—but the actual composition was usually all his own.

One exception to this is The Guiding Light. This collector favorite depicts the Bass Harbor Head Light in Maine's Acadia National Park.
